about

My life began with music. The moment I was born, my dad put a Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli side on the turntable in the birthing room at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco, and my fate was sealed. This record is for that most dynamic guitar and fiddle duo, who have been in my ears since day one. This record is for my parents Connie and Oscar, you who introduced me to music and nurtured my musical path in countless ways, experientially, financially, emotionally, and psychologically. You are the reason I’m here, and I love you. The proudest moments in my musical life have been spent playing with and learning from my number one mentor, Turtle Island String Quartet founder and DGQ original member, the wild, wonderful force of nature known as Darol Anger. This record is one of, if not the chief moment of joy and pride in music making spent with Darol, and Darol, this record is also for you. Between the rich harmonic layers of the TISQ and the unadulterated joy of the Quintet du Hot Club de France is where you’ll find my roots firmly planted. This recording is a dig down into the earth around those roots, dedicated to the loves of my musical life.

I’m thrilled beyond belief that some of my long-time favorite humans, and new friends I’ve come to love very much, came with me on this personal archaeological journey over the course of 2 wonderful days in the studio - September 1 and 2, 2021, and one gob-smackingly wonderful concert on Aug 31, 2021. Grant, thank you for the friendship of many years, beautiful playing and all the sage advice! Eric, thank you for providing the most comfortable, grounding, grooving foundation anyone could ever hope for, in all ways! Joy, it’s a joy to know you, and I am so grateful you graced this record with your cello playing. Coleman, thank you for lending your exquisite talents to this album - you are so fun to make music with. Shane, the Bach wouldn’t be the same without you - thank you so much for joining in, and I look forward to much more music making. Darol, you are also one of my earliest influences, and this record would not exist without you. Thank you for the friendship and mentorship, and every note you’ve played, yes, all of them. David, if there’s a measure of gratitude beyond beyond, that is what I feel for you - of all life’s teachers and loves I’ve had, you are the greatest. Thank you for showing me the path and walking it with me, always. I love you.

This album is dedicated to Ron Miles (1963-2022), to my parents Connie and Oscar, and to my mentor, Darol Anger.

about

Enion Pelta-Tiller Denver, Colorado

Enion Pelta-Tiller's forthcoming album, Dedication, is a homecoming. It hearkens back to her parents’ record collection and the songs her dad played on his hand-painted “Our Lady of the Waves” guitar. It’s an homage to her most luminous influences: Darol Anger and the Turtle Island String Quartet. ... more
